As Optimist International’s oldest program, this contest allows young adults to gain experience in public speaking on a pre-assigned topic. Optimist Districts have the opportunity to provide three scholarships to winners – $2500 for first, $1500 for second, and $1000 for third place. The first place winner advances to the regional contest to compete for a chance to win an additional $5000 scholarship.
The topic for the 2023-2024 school year is “How to Change the World with Optimism.”
